Our Team
Dr Jennifer Deverson
Founder and Resident Veterinarian at The Village Vet
Dr Jen has practiced nationwide as well as in England, but found that working in Darling was the most fulfilled she had ever felt. Driven by a desire to create premium veterinary care, she set up home and business there – and, being a woman of vision, went on to spread the love to Atlantis too! Dr Jen’s dedication and compassion for pets and owners alike ensure that she always walks the extra mile for clients, and is always ready to make a plan for an animal in need.
When she is not working, Dr Jen keeps fit by running, relaxes by reading, and revives herself by hanging out with her friends.
She has one dog called Ozzy.
Ches Barends
Darling Receptionist
Ches is well-known at Darling Village Vet for her lovely way with people and pets alike. She has a warm smile in good times, a cool head in a crisis. Having been with The Village Vet since Oct 2014, she has a generous knowledge of pet health that she is always ready to share.
She is renowned throughout Darling as a first-class hairdresser, so it no surprise that her hobbies include doing people’s hair! She is also an avid tennis player, but more than anything else, her most cherished time is spent with her husband and little kiddies.
Ches has two dogs, named Lady and Bonesy… but everyone understands that her fat cat, Leo, is the boss of the house!
Luigi Passenz
Darling Receptionist
Luigi, having joined us in March 2018, has a gentle manner that is always so appreciated by everyone who comes into the clinic – whether they have four legs or two! No matter how busy the clinic gets, he always seems to retain his composure, and has a calming influence on all those around him.
Luigi is a very creative person who loves the arts. His creative pastimes include painting, cooking and baking. To tune the world out, he relaxes with a good book, or immerses himself in binge watching series on Netflix. Besides all of that… Luigi loves to sing.
Luigi has one dog and two cats that he loves very much.
Bianca Jeftha
Atlantis Receptionist
Bianca has been with us since The Village Vet Atlantis opened its doors in Oct 2016 and is loved by clients in Atlantis for her bubbly personality and gorgeous welcoming smile. She is trustworthy, serious about her work, and always ready to help.
Bianca enjoys the best of both worlds: cosying up inside with series, and also being out and about, road tripping the countryside to explore new places.
Carinne Hector
Atlantis Receptionist
Carrine is the newest member of the Atlantis team, having come to us in February 2020. She has an outgoing personality coupled with a sharp, wicked sense of humour. You can always trust Carrine to give it to you straight, and her outspoken nature gives her a fresh and direct approach to life, and to her work.
Carinne spends much of her off time with her nose in a book, her favourite reading matter being fiction, mystery, and romance. The rest of her time is enjoyed in her garden, applying her green thumb to growing veggies!
Patrick Viti
Kennel Assistant
Patrick joined us in September 2019 and while he is the newest member of the Darling team, he has a veteran’s fearlessness in handling our more difficult patients. He is always willing to help, and has such an easy going nature that our furry patients all feel comfortable around him. And, thanks to his thorough cleaning and attention to detail, the clinic is squeaky clean, which is vital to the work we do there.
On his off days you will find Patrick tending his garden or watching his favourite sports. He also loves to spend his social time having a beer with friends.
Patrick has three cats, and his dog Spike, who is one of our resident blood donors.
Michael Dyantyi
Kennel Assistant
Michael Dyanti became part of The Village Vet team in January 2015. Although he is the quietest member of our team, his shy nature belies a great sense of humour. Always in the right place at the right time, Michael is a valuable asset to The Village Vet. He has a gentle, calm approach to all animals.
Michael loves to put his feet up and watch television, most especially sporting events.
He is the proud owner of Scaramouche’s brother, who was lucky to find a forever home with Michael and his family in Darling. He also has two dogs … and nine pigs! The pigs are his side-hustle business, so we expect to see those numbers grow.
Jody Baxter
Dog Groomer
Jody Baxter is our resident professional groomer. She can be found at The Village Vet on a Tuesday offering her dog, and the occasional cat, grooming skills. With 25 years of grooming experience, as well as being a breeder of Bull Mastiffs and Dogue de Bordeauxs, Jody has a huge understanding of dogs and there’s yet to be a dog that hasn’t succumbed to her caring attention and allowed themselves to be pampered. Specialising in Schnauzers, Yorkies and Poodles, there’s not such a thing as a bad hair day at The Dog Groomer.
Jody can be contacted on 082 519 4769
Scaramouche (aka “Mouchkie”)
Darling Clinic Cat Since 2016
Scaramouche, our gorgeous black and white baby, is the sweetest and most complex creature - highly inquisitive and really lazy at the same time. Her favourite pastimes are naps by the heater, and long walks on the computer keyboard. And you know what they say: dogs have owners, but cats have staff! So, safe to say that as Mouchkie’s favourite person in the world is Ches, Ches is lucky to serve this gorgeous kitty.
Bliss (aka “fatness”)
Darling Clinic Cat Since 2010
Bliss is basically the cat version of Barry White, with his distinctively low meow and snugglesome personality. Whenever people walk into the clinic, up slinks Bliss with his welcoming song, ready to be adored. Which he is! How many humans does he have? Let’s just say all the ladies melt when he approaches.
Pixie (aka “Minx”)
Darling Clinic Cat Since 2010
Pixie is a tiny kittie, but don’t let her size fool you. This petite, golden ginger has a self-determined streak and a willingness to show you who is boss, given the opportunity! Do not approach her uninvited, is all we can say. How many humans does she have? All of them.
